Students Travel Stipend Application
To make the conference as accessible as possible to all students, we are happy to offer a limited number of subsidies for major travel to/from DC.
Please read the following information and then fill out the form below. If you have questions about travel subsidies that aren't answered on this page, please email Rina Abd El Rahman at rinarahman@wrmea.org
Travel subsidies are available only to currently-enrolled undergraduate and graduate students in attendance for the entirety of the conference. Travel stipends are available only after you have exhausted all options for conference travel sponsorship at your college or university. Many academic departments, offices of civil engagement, student governments, student organizations, and other local groups provide funding specifically for conferences. Please reach out to all relevant groups on your campus and in your community.
We cannot fund any additional fees beyond the least expensive form of major travel. We will not reimburse intra-city and regional student travel within the Washington, DC metro area.
Please note that submitting an application for a travel subsidy does not guarantee the receipt of a subsidy, or receipt of a subsidy in your requested amount. All travel subsidies are offered at the sole discretion of the conference organizers.
Subsidy Application Instructions
1. Conference organizers can and
will only fund up to 80% of the least expensive form of travel
to/from your school and DC. If there is a reasonable bus, we can't
fund the train. If there is a much cheaper flight with a layover,
that's the one we can fund. The less expensive your travel, the more
student travel we can help cover. Please help us help others by
being as judicious as possible. If you want to get a sense of the

2. Don't purchase any travel until you submit the form below AND get
a confirmation email from from us with your subsidy amount. We will
email you within one week with a confirmed subsidy amount. We can
and will only fund up to the amount listed in your confirmation
email. Once you have that email, please purchase your travel ASAP,
as prices can go up and we can't necessarily adjust your subsidy for
increases.
3. No later than 1 week after receiving your confirmation email,
submit your travel payment receipts to
rinarahman@wrmea.org. We
cannot and will not cut a check until we have a copy of your
receipts for purchased travel.
4. Subsidy reimbursement checks will be distributed right before the
reception on Friday evening, March 18, 2016. For those that are
approved for a subsidy after February 27th, reimbursement checks will be
mailed to you within two weeks of the end of the conference.

The last date to apply for a travel stipend in order to receive a
stipend check at the conference is February 27.
The last date by which any applicant will receive approval for a
travel purchase in order to receive a stipend check at the
conference is February 27.
The last date to submit travel purchase receipts in order to receive
a stipend check after the conference is March 4.
STIPEND APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. To best understand the

2. Submit the embedded form below to submit your
proposed form of travel and cost to be approved for a stipend.
Again,if
you are in need of a stipend, please do not purchase travel prior to
submitting this form and receiving approval.
3. The conference organizers will review and approve travel requests
on a rolling basis. You will receive a stipend approval or stipend
adjustment email about your request within 1 week after your request
is submitted. There are a limited amount of travel stipends.
4. Upon receiving your approval email, purchase your approved form
of travel within one week of email receipt. If you purchase travel
after this time period, or if you purchase an unapproved form of
travel, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to adjust your
stipend to reflect any changes in your expense amount.
5. No later than 1 week after receiving your approval email, submit
your payment receipts for your approved travel purchase to
rinarahman@wrmea.org
6. If you apply for a stipend by February 27, and purchase travel
and submit your receipts by March 4, you will receive your stipend
check at the conference on March 18, 2016. If your form of travel
necessitates submitting receipts after the conference, and you
submit your receipts by March 4 (the final deadline), you will
receive a reimbursement check via mail after the conference.
